A picnic often begins with something simple: a blanket, a few friends, and a place to gather. Tavola Rasa takes inspiration from the picnic table, not only as an object, but for the informal and inclusive way it brings people together.

Designed for concerts, festivals, and community events, the project transforms the unfinished temple of Madonna delle Cataste into a place for gathering and participation. The raised platform frames the temple as a stage while creating an open surface that encourages spontaneous use and shared ownership.

An octagonal opening around the temple forms a continuous seating and viewing platform, allowing visitors to gather around performances and events. Large movable wooden trunks can become additional seating, places to rest, informal stages, or whatever else the occasion requires. Simple by design, the platform supports the historic structure without competing for attention, allowing the temple to remain at the centre of the experience.

Like a picnic table, Tavola Rasa provides a setting for people to gather while leaving room for unexpected moments to emerge.
