Vogasalt
This project began with a simple question: could a memorial become a place for making new memories?
Located in Vogar, a shared piece of family land where relatives gather each year, Vogasalt honours the memory of two grandparents by creating a place where old stories can be shared while new ones are made.
Formed from a single curved glulam element, Vogasalt invites people to sit, recline, gather, and spend time together. Its gentle rocking movement inspired the name, combining the name of the land with the Icelandic word vegasalt, meaning seesaw.
Rather than marking the end of a story, Vogasalt offers a place for it to continue.
